What is an ecosystem?
The direct definition of an ecosystem is "a biological community of interacting organisms and their physical environment." Ecosystems support all species of life on this planet. Some ecosystems remain constant and stable while others are constantly changing. In an unstable environment species constantly come and go as the ecosystem changes. For example a sudden forest fire forces the current species to evacuate or die. What remains after the fire helps foster new life and slowly form a new stable ecosystem. Ecosystems are full of living and non-living things that interact to support life. They come in many different forms like tundras, deserts and forests. Ecosystems contain communities populations and habitats.
