Mitosis
Mitosis is the process by which cells divide and by which organisms grow. It involves the splitting of already doubled DNA strands in order to make up the nuclear composition of two new cells. This process is split into several other processes: Prophase, metaphase, anaphase, telophase, and cytokinesis. A good abbreviation to remember is IP (on) MAT, C?
Meiosis
Meiosis is essentially an extended form of mitosis in which cells with half the number of chromosomes, or haploid cells, are made. These are made for organisms with sexual reproduction so that they ay combine with their mate's haploid cells to create a genetically distinct offspring.
